What is being tested?

HSV 1 IgM assay is used to perform the qualitative detection of human IgM class antibodies to HSV type 1 in human serum.  HSV-1 is generally associated with infection in the tongue, mouth, lips, pharynx and eyes. Minority of first genital episodes (5-30%) caused by HSV-1.
