What is being tested?

Semi quantitative detection of heterophile antibodies associated with infectious mononucleosis in human serum or plasma.  The test detects heterophile antibodies that are produced by the immune system in response to an Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection. The test is 71% to 90?curate and may be used as an initial test for diagnosing infectious mononucleosis.
