What is being tested?

Anti-HBc IgM assay is used to perform qualitative detection of IgM antibody to hepatitis B core antigen in human serum or plasma.  It is useful to Identify acute hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection in the serologic window period when hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) and antihepatitis B surface (anti-HBs) are negative.
