What is being tested?

"HSV 1 IgG assay is used to perform the qualitative detection of human IgG class antibodies to HSV type 1 in human serum.  HSV 1 IgG testing detects antibodies in the blood to determine previous exposure to herpes.
HSV-1 is generally associated with infection in the tongue, mouth, lips, pharynx and eyes. Minority of first genital episodes (5-30%) caused by HSV-1.
