The Laboratory Sciences and Services Division (LSSD) of icddr,b has designed and implemented a comprehensive Quality Management System (QMS) in 2009 in line with the requirements of ISO 15189 & ISO 15190 standards and Good Clinical Laboratory Practices. With a vision of achieving excellence in Quality Assurance, the laboratory services has employed rigorous quality assurance programs to ensure accurate, reliable and prompt services in order to meet and exceed the needs and satisfaction of the patients and clients.

Going through vigorous quality management and technical training, conducted by local and external experts over the years, the laboratory team has proved themselves as capacity for offering services of international benchmark for clients, collaborators and stakeholders. The laboratory serves as a training hub for different government health organizations and international fellows and trainees as well. 
The Clinical Laboratory Services of icddr,b has been accredited for ISO 15189 and ISO 15190 since 2011 by the Bureau of Laboratory Quality Standards (BLQS) under the Ministry of Public Health, Thailand. icddr,b laboratory services is the ever first accredited laboratory in Bangladesh and continuing its consecutive fifth accreditation status.

The laboratories have been participating in External Quality Assurance Scheme (EQAS) with College of American Pathologists (CAP) since 1993, and received CAP appreciation every year for their high scoring performance in proficiency testing.
